The Humble Apartments of Northern Houston

     Humble is located at the intersection of US Highway 59 and FM-1960 in the northeast corner of Harris County, east of FM-1960 and south Kingwood, and is approximately five miles from Houston Bush International airport. The city of humble was incorporated in 1932 and operates under a council-manage type of government. Its strategic location on US Highway 59 and FM-1960 affords quick connection with points in Houston, the Gulf Coast and East Texas. Covering an area of approximately ten square miles, Humble sits atop a heavily wooded knoll, close to lakes and recreational facilities. It is also a prime center for fishing and hunting enthusiasts.

      The first people who settled in Humble were lumbermen and cattlemen. Humble Oil began operating an early oil field from which the town took its name. The population of Humble, a predominantly upper middle class neighbor hood is 14,570 as of year 2000 census. There is today an even blend of blue collar and white collar workers and, with the proximity to Bush International Airport, many of the residents work at the airport.

     Humble has its own independent school district, with two elementary schools, one junior high school and one senior high school. North Harris County Junior College is located within its environs. The residents are served by three newspapers, the Humble Echo, The Humble News Messenger and the Lake Houston News. McKay Clinic and Northeast Medical Center provide healthcare for the area and the city is 18 miles from the Texas Medical Center. Township and Kingwood centers serve the shopping needs of the city’s residents.

     For golfers, there are Kingwood, Forest Cove, Atascocita, El Dorado and Tejas golf clubs. Swimming is available at the city swimming pool and at various residential club pools. Cezeaux Memorial Park organizes summer activities for children and has Little League football and baseball teams.

Several civic organizations and clubs are present, including the Rotary and Lions clubs and the four subdivisions also have their own civic organizations. Humble has a low crime rate. It operates its own police and fire departments.
