My son will officially be a chef next month. That is really a very exciting news for him because he has been working hard for many years. As he was not good at bookwork when he was young, he missed the opportunity to go to college. Then he got a job in a small hotel. I was not in agreement with his decision at that time because it seemed like a dead end job without a future. Luckily, after visiting the hotel restaurant kitchen a few times my son found that he was interested in cooking. After talking to the chefs there and assisting some of the chefs he decided to pursue a career in cooking.

As his father, I have to prepare a gift for him. My wife has suggested that perhaps some chef apparel might be an appropriate gift. As I had no idea what well dressed chefs wear these days, I decided to go online and do some research. I found out the most important piece of the uniform is the chef jacket or coat. So my task was to look online at different chef jackets.

After doing a Google search, I came across the website,  idbylandau.com. They had several different chef jackets to choose from, with some very interesting features. One thing my son always mentions is how hot it gets in the kitchen, so I found that the some of the chef uniforms available at this website had under arm or side vents, which would be cooler to work in. I decided on the coed executive chef coat. For one it is very stylish looking, and I think my son will like it. Second it has the added feature of a dual flap front panel, which I understand can be reversed to hide stains. It has the venting feature, as well as a utensil pocket on the left sleeve and a towel wring on the right. It comes in a black stripe pattern, which will also help hide stains, and my son may be a good cook, but sometimes he is a sloppy one, and food splatters are to be expected when working in a hot and busy kitchen. There are also matching  chef pants in the black stripe, and a black skull cap to top it all off.

I have to say I am a proud dad and I am so happy that my son found something that he enjoys doing. So taking that job in the hotel wasn’t such a bad thing after all. I can’t wait to see my son’s face when he opens the gift, and I know he will look really sharp in his stylish chef apparel.
